   新年的腳步近了，考研人的沖刺也開(kāi)始了。今天是我在哈佛的第一個(gè)學(xué)期結束后的第一天，外面厚厚的積雪仍在，風(fēng)也不小，我在路上走的時(shí)候帽子被吹飛了幾次。去年差不多也是這個(gè)時(shí)候，我在北京撰寫(xiě)考研英語(yǔ)沖刺30天的系列文章。為了給參加08年考研的朋友提供一些幫助，今年繼續撰寫(xiě)考研英語(yǔ)沖刺文章。希望這些文章給大家指點(diǎn)一些復習方向，更希望大家能因此堅持不懈，誓達自己的目標。

    今天是沖刺的第一天，我講英譯漢問(wèn)題，目的是讓各位由此知道自己的強弱之處，從而確定復習的重點(diǎn)。英譯漢是考研英語(yǔ)中一個(gè)較難的部分，不易得高分。究其原因，主要是難句分析、確定詞義與邏輯組合等方面不好把握。鑒于此，我將從上述三個(gè)方面進(jìn)行總結。今天以難句為例，說(shuō)明復習的重點(diǎn)。難句也是閱讀部分和完型填空部分的重點(diǎn)，不過(guò)英譯漢部分更加集中地考查難句，所以以英譯漢中的難句為例更能說(shuō)明問(wèn)題。一般而言，句子中有三個(gè)重點(diǎn)與難點(diǎn)：

    1．核心詞匯

    2．核心詞組

    3．句子結構

 
    例一，

    But the idea that the journalist must understand the law more profoundly than an ordinary citizen rests on an understanding of the established conventions and special responsibilities of the news media. (2007)

    參考譯文 新聞?dòng)浾邞绕胀ü窀油笍氐亓私夥?，而這種看法是基于他們對新聞媒體業(yè)已確立的規約和特殊責任的理解。

    此句的重點(diǎn)與難點(diǎn)有：

    一、核心詞匯

    profoundly 透徹地，深刻地

    established 已確立的

    convention 規約，公約；大會(huì )

    二、核心詞組

    rest on 基于，依賴(lài)于

    三、句子結構

    本句的主干是the idea that…rests on an understanding of…，其中idea后面的that引導一個(gè)同位語(yǔ)從句that the journalist must understand the law…，說(shuō)明idea的具體內容，介詞結構of the established conventions and special responsibilities of the news media做understanding的定語(yǔ)。

    例二，

    Is it true that the American intellectual is rejected and considered of no account in his society? (2006)

    參考譯文 美國的知識分子在美國社會(huì )遭到排斥并被認為無(wú)足輕重，這一說(shuō)法屬實(shí)嗎？

    此句的重點(diǎn)與難點(diǎn)有：

　　一、核心詞匯

    reject 排斥，拒絕

    二、核心詞組

    of no account 不重要，沒(méi)有價(jià)值（account 重要性，價(jià)值）

　　三、句子結構

    本句的主干是Is it true that…，其中it是形式主語(yǔ)，that引導的從句that the American intellectual is rejected and considered of no account…是真正的主語(yǔ)。本句的難點(diǎn)有：一個(gè)是被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)the American intellectual is rejected and considered of no account，可以轉換成主動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)Americans reject the American intellectual and consider him of no account；另一個(gè)是詞組of no account（不重要）的理解。

    例三， While there are almost as many definitions of history as there are historians, modern practice most closely conforms to one that sees history as the attempt to recreate and explain the significant events of the past.(1999)

    參考譯文 幾乎每個(gè)歷史學(xué)家對史學(xué)都有自己的界定，但現代史學(xué)家的實(shí)踐最趨向于認為歷史學(xué)是試圖重現過(guò)去的重大史實(shí)并對其做出解釋。

    此句的重點(diǎn)與難點(diǎn)有：

    一、核心詞匯

    while 雖然，盡管

    practice 實(shí)踐，做法

    closely 緊密地

    attempt 試圖，嘗試

    recreate 重現，再現

　　二、核心詞組

    conform to 符合，順應；遵守

    see…as 把…看作

    三、句子結構

    本句是一個(gè)復合句，開(kāi)始是while引導的讓步狀語(yǔ)從句，其中as many…as…的意思是“像…一樣多”，那么這一從句的字面意思就是“有多少歷史學(xué)家，幾乎就有多少‘歷史’的定義”；接著(zhù)是主句modern practice most closely conforms to one…，定語(yǔ)從句that sees history as the attempt to recreate and explain the significant events of the past修飾先行詞one，其中one指前面的definition。

    上面三個(gè)例子表明了一般句子，尤其是難句的重點(diǎn)與難點(diǎn)：核心詞匯、核心詞組與句子結構。其中核心詞匯又包括熟詞僻義，如上面的account（重要性，價(jià)值）用的是非常見(jiàn)意義，其常見(jiàn)意義是“敘述”，而while（雖然，盡管）此處用的也是非常見(jiàn)意義。要做到考試時(shí)迅速破解難點(diǎn)、把握重點(diǎn)，就必須打好這方面的基礎。接下來(lái)的幾天我會(huì )總結考研英語(yǔ)基礎中的重點(diǎn)，為后面的考試技巧提煉做準備。在哈佛常聽(tīng)到莎士比亞的一句話(huà)，作為今天的結束語(yǔ)：An honest tale speeds best being plainly told（誠實(shí)的話(huà)，即使以平淡的方式講，也傳得最快）。
